  • Grown up in Munich, universal and humanistic education, followed by studies of Antique History, Geography and Meteorology at the Unversity of Munich 1982-86

  • After abandonment of the studies continuation as a self-teacher

  • different stays in France, USA, Australia and Chile between 1986 and 1995, since the end of 96 living permanently in Pfronten, Allgaeu (Southern Bavaria)

  • working as a freelancer: Media Consultant, Journalist, Photographer, Book author and Translator, in-between Tandem pilot of paraglider and Guiding of PG travels and expeditions for private clients and small groups to selected destinations around the world.

  • from 1986 on travelling in almost 60 countries

  • 8 book publications since 86, more than 100 magazine and newspaper publications, 3 shortfilms

Adventures as a Mountaineer, Pilot and Traveller:

  • 1985-88 Ascents of the major North Faces of the Alps eg. Petit Dru, American Direct, Les Droites-Directissime in winter, Noire de Peuterey, Cima Grande Northface direct, different Southface routes at Marmolada, Civetta Northface, Philipp Dihedro,

  • New routes in Italy, Sarca Valley, Dolomites (eg. Quattrophenia,Monte Casale)

  • Solo climbs across many ice faces of the eastern and western Alps eg. Ortler North, Montblanc Brenva, Aiguille du Midi North Direct

  • 1986 first steps into the air on a BLS Speedmax 7 cell paraglider from Lyons, France

  • March 87: as the first German on a Tandem Paraglider (a Masters Galaxy - actually a rectangular parachute without sliders…) – using skistarts!

  • August 87: participation at the first (later – in-official) World Championship in Verbier (Switzerland) making 11th during the pre-finals

  • Jan 88: first Tandem flights in Germany, among others from Zugspitze as well

  • 88 and 89: flights from Montblanc by Tandem

  • 1989 Mt Kenia, Hells Gate and Lukenya Climbing Expedition, flight from Point Lenana, the shoulder of Mt. Kenya

  • Flight from Grandes Jorasses, Montblanc Group after climbing the mountain

  • 1991 solo climb of the Eastface of Mt. Cook / New Zealand

  • First ascent of two new routes on Kuchenspitze Northface, Ferwall Mts., Austria

  • 1992 XC flights with a paraglider (Joy, Munich sails) across the Moroccan Atlas

  • Across Middle Asia over land by use of train, vehicles, walking, horse, paraglider, helicopter – 2 months on the road

  • First ascent of two 5000 mt. peaks in Tadjikistan (Pik Surok, Pik Ariol, Seravshan Mts.), first paraglider pilot crossing along Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan, Kirgizia

  • From Siberia into the Altai region, paragliding and ice climbing there (with new routes on ice)


           
 

  • 1993 First Four- Seater Flight on a Paraglider (World Premiere, filmed by SAT 1 television)

  • 1995 Bivouac Flight alone across the Alps from Southern Switzerland into Bavaria

  • 1996 Solo ascent of 5- and 6000mt peaks in Chile, Solo expedition to the westface of Aconcagua

  • 1997 Tandem XC flight in Chile over 162kms, flight –to-goal world record 128km by tandem

  • 1998 across Patagonia around the Carretera Austral and Ruta 40 by walking, fishing, hitchhiking

  • 1998 / 99 Kajak excursion to the Southern Icefields of Patagonia, first climb of a new route on Cerro Monroe

  • 1999 Tandem flight from Germany to Italy across the Alps reaching a cloudbase of 4750 mts!

  • TransCentralAsia Expedition across Uzbekistan and Kirgizia with Tandem Flights  - Sept 99

  • 1999/ 2000: Ethiopia Paragliding Expedition, presentation of Paragliding in Ethiopia as a aid program for tourism, collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines and the High Commisioner of Tourism, filmed by ETV

  • Tanzania: Paragliding Expedition to the Holy Mountain of the Masai, Ol Donyo Lengai, with Tandem flight from its summit

  • North Patagonia, exploration of the Peucas and Yates region, first ascent of the NE face of Yates I

  • 2001 / 2002 journeys across central- and South America with a paraglider

  • Paragliding Expedition into Yemen, filmed by jemenian TV

  • 2002 first ascents in the Anti-Atlas of Morocco

  • 2004 Ice Climbing in the South Face of Kilimandjaro, Tanzania

  • Explorations in the Rumanian Carpaths with a paraglider in preparation of

  • 2005 XCarpatia Project – across the entire Carpaths arc on a bivouac flight,

  • New climbs in Morocco, Anti-Atlas as part of an ecotourism development

  • Project

  • Book “ Augenblicke oben” – Moments in the Sky” about my journeys and experiences as well as something from Mike Kueng, Will Gadd, Angelo d’Arrigo and others

  • 2006 “Fly the Children” project – tandem flights with children from 15 developping countries as part of a private Children Aid project, followed by a book and eventually a film project on it.
